Solidsoft delivers a new Electronic Service Delivery Platform for Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council

On Monday 30 November 2009 Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council's pest control service went live offering householders an online 24/7 booking and payment service.

Not only will this allow requests to be sent in at a time that suits the individual, it also ensures they receive a quicker service.

The Barnsley Herald featured an article on 27 November 2009 in which Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet spokesperson for Customer and Neighbourhood Services, said: "An additional benefit is that this method of payment is environmentally friendly as it removes the need for lots of paperwork to be created in order to send bills out later.

"So if you're a householder with a pest control problem, get a better level of service and help save the planet by reporting it on www.barnsley.gov.uk and follow the instructions. Your request will be sent directly to a pest control officer, who will respond within 24 hours."

Cllr Miller added: "Even if your request doesn't fall within this category,  our services can still be accessed through the website using the 'I want to report'
section that appears on the home page."

This was a joint development project between Solidsoft and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and part of the council's new approach to delivering services to the system based on an Electronic Service Delivery Platform.
