Following his involvement on a recent engagement for Avis, Paul Brown has been awarded the ‘Spirit of Avis' in recognition of the exceptional service delivery he has provided. Paul has 18 years' experience in the IT industry across multiple platforms including Microsoft Windows, various UNIX systems and IBM Mainframes. He has spent the last 12 of those years working on the Microsoft platform, gaining experience of the full software development lifecycle across a number of projects and sectors. |
Paul is a professional with a conscientious attitude and thoroughness to all work that he produces, and this was commented upon by Stuart Gent, Managing Director of Avis when he wrote to thank Paul personally for all his work and support on their AI technology development. Paul is one of Solidsoft's priniciple consultants and has deep skills in Microsoft BizTalk Server as well as across the integration landscape on the Microsoft platform as an architect.
Paul also has core skills in the .NET framework as well as experience in the new platform technologies Communication Foundation and Workflow Foundation. He is also a member of the Microsoft BizTalk Server Technical Advisory Council (TAC) of which there are only just over 30 members worldwide. In addition he has been involved in the Microsoft Workflow Foundation Technology Adoption Program (TAP).

Before joining Solidsoft Simon spent three years in the role of Manufacturing Industry Architect and RFID Lead at Microsoft EMEA. Prior to that he worked for five years as the iPlanet Product Marketing Manager for Northern Europe at Sun Microsystems, and additionally spent over 15 years working as a principal consultant for a number of IT strategy houses. These included Redfern (now part of the Hayes group), where Simon led a SAP implementation team at Schweppes Europe and acted as data architect for PITO (Police Information Technology Organisation) for NSPIS (National Strategy for Police Information Systems).
Simon has written a number of books on data management, methodologies and CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering) tools. He is also a regular speaker at events and a contributor to articles.

24 July 2006 - Local Authority Rolls Out Connected Government Framework Integration Solution 2006

The Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk is the first local authority to run Connected Government Framework Integration Solution 2006 (CGF-IS06). Solidsoft recently upgraded King's Lynn & West Norfolk to the latest Microsoft integration platform which includes BizTalk Server 2006 and SQL Server 2005. This solution is being used for GC Register authentication services. The upgrade went very smoothly and is running without any problems.

Today Solidsoft proudly announced it has won the Partner of the Year Award for Sales and Marketing in Business Process and Integration at the 2006 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Program Awards. The company was chosen out of an international field of top Microsoft partners as delivering market-leading customer solutions built on Microsoft technology. Additionally Solidsoft was the only non-US based company to make the final four in the Technology Innovation in Business Process and Integration category. The awards were distributed at a ceremony on 12 July in Boston, MA, at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference.
Awards were presented in a number of categories, with winners chosen from a pool of more than 2,300 entrants worldwide. Solidsoft was recognised for superior Sales and Marketing in Business Process and Integration. The Business Process and Integration Solutions Awards recognise best practices for selling and deploying business process management (BPM) and integration solutions. 13 July 2006 - Solidsoft to Use Two Connect Salesforce.com BizTalk Adapter
Solidsoft is pleased to announce its adoption of the Two Connect Salesforce.com BizTalk Adapter as the de facto adapter for SalesForce.com developments. The Two Connect adapter is a full feature BizTalk adapter with two-way transmit and one-way response functionalities and a design-time Schema Wizard. The adapter also takes advantage of all features available through the BizTalk Adapter Framework. The adapter leverages the functionality available through the SalesForce.com Web Service API to provide a quality integration solution for the SalesForce.com solutions platform.

15 June 2006 - Team Solidsoft Completes Microsoft Challenge 2006
A team of six Solidsoft employees completes the 2006 Microsoft Challenge, finishing in a respectable 65th place. For the second year running Solidsoft took part in the Microsoft UK Challenge, a multi-challenge event in which top companies from all over the UK participate to raise funds for charity. This unique experience re-vitalises individuals to create outstanding teams for business and those involved are guaranteed to learn more about their strengths over the four days than they would in a whole year; this was particularly true this year! The NSPCC is the beneficiary of the event and this year the Challenge hopes ultimately to raise in excess of £500,000. |

11 June 2006 - Microsoft Builds on the Excellent Microsoft BizTalk 2006 with its Announcement of the Launch of Microsoft BizTalk 2006 Release 2
This release will broaden BizTalk's support for platform technologies such as the 2007 Microsoft Office system and Windows Vista including core .NET version 3.0 technologies such as Windows Workflow Foundation and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF). Furthermore, BizTalk Server 2006 Release 2 will provide an adapter framework on top of Windows Communication Foundation to help customers build customised adapters to better support interoperability between applications. Together these new capabilities will enable customers to increase the reach of their existing business processes to address a host of current and emerging business problems, particularly in the area of end-to-end supply chain and retail operations. |

New features include:
- RFID – APIs and tighter integration to let third party vendors tie RFID hardware and software into their platform. It includes a set of business rules and events management capabilities so RFID events can connect with back end processes.
- EDI – Microsoft has taken the EDI issue to heart and is now providing the full EDI experience.
- Lots more adapters and accelerators in the box, such as HL7, Rossettanet and Tibco.
- WCF adapter in the box.
- Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) for Windows Workflow Foundation.
- Adapter Framework built on WCF allowing adapters to be used across product sets, including Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services.
- Better integration with the Office 2007 suite.
Solidsoft has been invited to join the Microsoft BizTalk 2006 Release 2 Technology Adopter Program (TAP) and is actively looking for suitable customers to act as partners on the program.
